We All Have Mental Health…How’s Yours?

phine

Have you ever heard someone say “I’m fine,” but deep down you know they are not.  It can be a loved one, friend or even a colleague.  When you watch someone go from laid-back, happy and calm to snappy, distracted or sad, it hurts everyone.  It is even harder to try to get help, when they keep telling you they are “fine.”  What they really meant was “phine”… which means not fine at all.  With mental illness, unfortunately it is pretty common to say you’re fine when you really mean phine.

Yes To Earth Day

earthday-telpay

Celebrated every year on April 22, Earth Day is the largest environmental event in the world. More than six million Canadians — from students to organizations to businesses — participate in an Earth Day activity in their communities. The goal is to foster and celebrate environmental respect, action and behaviour change that adds up to a substantial improvement for the environment, when we all work together.

Telpay was excited to participate again in the Winnipeg Downtown Biz’s Earth Day Clean Up. Winnipeggers are not only friendly, but in 2012 they pulled together to pick up 1600 pounds of litter. In 2013, they picked up 2000 pounds of litter and this year’s goal is to pick up 2500 pounds!

Reduce Paper Use

blog-reduce-paper

When it comes to saving paper in your office, you can do small things that add up to significant changes. For instance, think twice about printing from your favourite web page, adjust your margins or font to make it fit on one page and reconsider sending corporate holiday cards.  Although it is a nice thought, it has been estimated that 10,000 trees are cut down annually in China to make holiday cards.

Thinking both big and small, reducing paper consumption is one of the easiest green changes you can start making immediately.

Did You Know?
• A typical business office generates about 1.5 pounds or almost 0.7 kg of wastepaper per employee per day.

• 80% of paper from office printers is for draft purposes.

• Paper waste (commercial and residential) accounts for over 40% of waste sent to landfills.

• Every recycled tonne of paper saves approximately 17 trees.

Save a Tree, Plant a Tree

blog-save-atree

Switching from cheques to electronic payments is not only a smart business decision but it is also good for the environment.

When you switch to electronic payments you are no longer using paper products such as cheques, envelopes and stamps. You can even reduce CO2 emissions when you no longer need to drive around for signatures or for couriering cheques.

In honour of Earth Day and to reinforce our commitment to a healthier environment, Telpay is pleased announce our Save a Tree – Plant a Tree Program, in partnership with Tree Canada!

Planting Trees with Telpay
Every time a Canadian business replaces cheques with electronic payments by Telpay, we will celebrate their 100th bill payment by having Tree Canada plant a tree in their honour. Customers will also receive a certificate recognizing their donation and will be listed on our website as a ‘Telpay Green Partner’.
